A positive induction experience
Birth Story of Sadie and Florence.
“I went into early labour with regular 10 minute surges Tuesday morning. That evening they were every 4 minutes so I rang triage. Unfortunatley, there were no midwives on call that evening so I was asked to come into hospital instead of having a home birth. When I arrived, the midwife led unit was also closed so a water birth was no longer an option. I stayed in over night bit I wasn’t dilating (I think I was a bit upset about the pool which stopped my oxytocin).
They advised me to stay in the hospital and get induced rather than go home, as I was about to be post-term, which I agreed was the best option.
Once induced, I was put onto the induction ward where my waters broke that night/ Thursday morning. It tool a long time for me to dilate and Florence started to push hard on my back. I opted for an epidural and she was born at 3.15pm on Thursday.
While some things were out of my control, the whole time I felt I had all the tools to make the best decisions during my birth. Looking back, it’s exactly how it was meant to be!
Thank you Katie Hill for teaching me how to use my BRAIN as it helped so much. I was able to stay calm throughout and breath through all the contractions.
My body knew what it was doing throughout and that the pain was necessary to meet baby Florence.
