Empowering hypnobirthing classes for expectant parents in Kent

Hello I’m Katie Hill, the founder of Nurtured Beginnings Hypnobirthing, and happy to see you here!

Now I’m not here to promise you a pain-free birth or to ‘hypnotise’ you and BOOM, your baby is born. I am here to assure you that you can have a positive and empowering birth experience. Through my birth preparation courses I will help you to; gain the knowledge, confidence, and tools to approach birth with a sense of calmness and control, regardless of the path it takes.

At Nurtured Beginnings, my focus is on shifting the narrative around childbirth. Childbirth does not have to be traumatic or scary, it really doesn’t! I want to help you feel calm and confident when entering your birth. I am truly passionate about helping you understand the power of the mind- body connection and guiding you in making informed decisions throughout your birth journey. During my antenatal classes, I will teach you about how the maternity system works and how to navigate around it. Using interactive strategies, I will talk you through the stages of labour, your options at each step, and strategies to ensure you feel empowered and supported.

Birth partners, this section is for you! Your role is important too! I invite you to participate fully in my courses and learn alongside mum-to-be. I will talk you through your role and why you are just as important on the day too!

Thank you once again for visiting. I hope you’ll choose me to support you as you embark on this incredible journey of bringing your baby into the world.

Warmly,
Katie Hill

My personal birth experiences

My name is Katie, and I am the proud mother of three wonderful children. My journey into hypnobirthing began after my first birth experience, which left me feeling unprepared and uninformed. In 2019, I gave birth to my son, Zachary, through an assisted delivery (forceps). Although his arrival was safe, it was not the birth I hoped for and left my birth partner and me feeling traumatised. I knew I wanted a different experience for my second birth.

A number of friends shared their positive experiences with hypnobirthing, describing it as empowering and transformative. Inspired by their stories, I decided to explore it for myself. I had plenty of time to complete the course due to COVID-19, so I practised daily and took my time to prepare.

In 2021, I welcomed my daughter, Lily-Jane. I would love to tell you that I had a magical experience with her but it also came with its own challenges. However, through my mindset change and the power that comes with birth preparation, I was able to birth her feeling confident and without the need for pain relief.

Then, in 2022, I gave birth to our third child, Arthur, our largest baby at 8lb 15oz. Again, I did not have the beautiful water birth I had hoped for but I still had a positive experience, successfully delivering him in just 40 minutes using gas and air.

The profound impact that hypnobirthing had on my own birth experiences inspired me to become a hypnobirthing teacher and in 2024 I trained with Abby Watson at Love Your Birth. I am now a full accredited Fedant Antenatal Educator and am dedicated to empowering other families to experience the strength and confidence that my courses can provide, and I look forward to guiding others on their own birth journeys.

You’ve probably heard someone say, “Why plan for birth when birth never goes to plan?” Let me tell you why that argument doesn’t quite hold up.

Yes, birth rarely goes exactly as hoped — but it’s the moments when things go off-plan that knowing your options matters most. I know this because I’ve been there. Even though my birth didn’t unfold the way I imagined, having a plan was the single biggest reason it was still a positive experience. No one can predict what will happen in labour (despite what some might claim), but you can walk into your maternity unit feeling informed, confident, and in control — with pain-busting tools to lean on when things get intense and resilience to cope for longer when it really counts.

“I was extremely nervous and worried about the thought of giving birth, so signed up for one of Katie’s free Hypnobirthing taster sessions. It was a great introduction and made me keen to learn more. Following this, we signed up for the 1:1 hypnobirthing course. Katie shared some amazing techniques, the ins and outs of birth and empowered me to approach birth in a positive way.

I went into labour naturally, and really benefitted from the breathing techniques and not being afraid to question professionals! Thank you Katie.”

“Just come away from our 4th hypnobirthing session with Katie and we could not recommend her more! Informative, supportive and beyond helpful in navigating our birthing journey. Our midwife is lovely but very busy; with Katie’s support and knowledge we’re actually learning about the process, our options and so much more so we feel more in control in what can be a daunting time. Nothing is too much, she’s gone out of her way to help us feel more at ease and prepared for our little girls arrival. If you’re on the fence, jump in, it’s so so so worth it! Thank you Katie.”
